FedRAMP Hires Agency Evangelist to Spread Its Gospel

Ashley Mahan will help federal agencies adopt FedRAMP principles and move to the cloud.

Evangelists spread information with passion, captivating listeners through the power of their message.  The Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) hired Ashley Mahan to act as an “agency evangelist” — a cybersecurity preacher, so to speak.

FedRAMP director Matt Goodrich made the announcement last week, MeriTalk reports. Mahan will help agencies adopt FedRAMP policies and assist with the federal government’s move to cloud computing. The role is based inside of FedRAMP’s Program Management Office (PMO), which Mahan began supporting as an information security officer last year. Goodrich championed Mahan’s cybersecurity background when discussing her new role within FedRAMP’s PMO.

“She’s been supporting the team for a little bit doing some of our security authorizations, but also has a long history in terms of agency outreach and running cybersecurity policies and awareness training programs across the government for the last 10 years or so,” Goodrich said.

According to FedRAMP, Mahan’s background includes the development and implementation of Cyber Awareness Training Programs. She also worked to make sure federal partners were in compliance with IT policies.
